About me

Who am I? That’s a tough question because I’m just…me.

Here are some details that might help you know me better.

By education, I’m an anthropologist which means I study people. To be more precise, I  studied culture, nutrition, and how our changing climate and globalization are impacting indigenous/traditional diets and lifestyle, and how transitioning to a more Western diet in response adversely affects biomarkers of health.

I’m an experienced herbalist and I have worked in the natural health field for 35 years, from both the clinical and retail sides.

I was raised in a rural area, surrounded by lush timberland, and during a time when children were encouraged to go outside and play. The forest is my sanctuary, my teacher, and my most steadfast companion.

I’m an avid reader and research geek. I’ve had to heal my own C-PTSD and I’ve been through the darkness. I lift weights and I love hiking, backpacking, and waking up in a tent. I can drive a tractor, am afraid of trains, and am learning to like mangoes.
